The banjo has had a fascinating journey, from it’s African origins to America where it developed via the 19th century minstrel banjo to the instrument we know today. The current design was finalised in the 1940’s and popularised through Bluegrass. I have two resonator banjos and a Gold tone openback that I really love playing. I’m also very fond of my minstrel banjo. It is made very simply of wood and skin, with no frets and has a very mellow sound which I like a lot
