The Tenor banjo is the 4 string member of the Banjo family. Originally the strings were tuned the same as a viola ( CGDA ), but these days, more commonly it is tuned to an octave below the violin ( GDAE ). It is mainly used for playing traditional Irish and American music and if you’re a mandolin player, or learnt the violin at school, you’re off to a head start.
I take all levels of students, from beginning and upwards, so if you’re just starting out, don’t worry. Lessons can be 30 mins, 45 mins or an hour, it’s up to you. The first step is to contact me and we can discuss your needs and interests.
